Rodeo Weekend

Reese and Boston riding various rides at carnival during the Famous Preston Night Rodeo Weekend.

Boston had enough tickets to ride one more ride and he wanted to ride the big slide. I told him he would have to go up all by himself while I waited at the bottom. I thought he would be too scared, but I was wrong. He fearlessly hike up the 2-story stairs and rode down with a huge smile on his face.

During rodeo weekend the hospital puts on a kids carnival with various free activities. Face painting (which was done by some of the high school student leadership, and if you can't tell-it's a horse), wagon rides, bounce house, photo booth, horse rides, fishing games, ring toss, archery, and other fun activities.
Boston was too scared to ride the horse by himself, but he found his good friend Brandon (my Grandma's neighbor) to ride with him.
Reese's friend Abby joined us that day and the girls had lots of fun together.

Rodeo weekend lasts 3 day,s and each evening there is a parade. Boston loved waving at the pretty girls riding horseback.
The best part of Rodeo weekend for the kids, is being able to spend all three days playing with their cousins.

1st Swim Lessons

Reese and Boston took their first swim lesson this summer.

They were both pretty nervous, especially Boston.
Reese and Boston loved having their new Aunt Kari and her mom Paige as their swim teachers. They were so kind and encouraging.
It's amazing the difference two weeks make. Reese was fearless! She was diving for rings and jumping off the diving board without her life jacket. Boston wasn't quite as brave but he finally warmed up to floating around the pool in his life jacket, instead of sitting on the stairs. Boston even loved jumping off the diving board while wearing his life jacket, but only after he found out you can yell "Cannon Ball" while jumping off. The first few days of swim lessons the kids would cry about having to go (because they had to float on their backs), and now they can't wait for swim lessons to start next summer.
