The Results Are In...

So we found out today that Reese made it to the semi-finals at the wal-mart baby contest. LAME!!! I know every mother believes their child to be the cutest thing on the face of the earth... but come on she's at least the cutest baby in Pocatello. Whatever... we did get a (cheesy) magnetic picture frame for the fridge... so at least we didn't go home empty handed.

Bought a jogging stroller today -- hopefully it warms up a bit to put it to good use and get rid of this spare tire around my waist. Ok my body isn't in horrible shape... but I do miss having a waistline. Locked up for the last 2 months in our basement apartment hasn't done my body good... apparently sitting on the couch all day holding and playing with an infant doesn't burn that many calories. I admit I was taking it pretty easy on my maternity leave...

Also today I made my poor baby bleed. So I was trimming her finger nails and she moved and I took a hunk out of her poor finger. Seriously my heart was broken when she started crying... (I almost cried- since it was my fault) - she was easily comforted and only cried for 60 seconds or so and then fell asleep. Hopefully it is that easy later next week when she goes in for her shots... I am not looking forward to hearing her scream in pain. Naturally I want to do all I can to keep her happy.

Back to work...

Sorry but I've been really lazy lately and haven't taken any pictures... this week I started back at work... and I thought I would be excited to get out of the house during the week... but I really would rather be home now. If the option to stay at home all the time was available I would definitely jump on it... but seeing as we are poor and Todd still needs to get through school I have to work. I suppose It's only 30 hours a week... It's worked out nice that we don't have to get a baby sitter with our schedules... and the day that we both have to work (Friday) Grandma Welch comes up to babysit.

Today we entered Reese into a baby contest at Wal-Mart. We just had to submit a photo... and we should find out tomorrow if the rest of the world thinks she is as cute as we think she is. I don't really think the prize is anything super fabulous... but just to have the bragging rights would be nice (I'm a terrible mother, I know).

I promise to take some pictures for the next post...

Just a lazy day...

Last week we went and visited grandma in Preston. We also went and visited Kate and Sadie... no doubt these two will become the best of friends.
Grandma Z bought Reese a new toy yesterday... she like to punch them more than try to grab them (well since she doesn't really know how to quite grab them yet)... she did love to look at them... which creates a wonderful distraction so mom can get some things done around the house.
Just hanging out with mom...actually mom was playing dress up with Reese. I glued on some flowers to her plain headbands and had to try one on her. She's just a doll.

Just some random pics...

So Todd was at work and school all day so just me and Reese trying to keep ourselves entertained. She is getting so wiggly lately...not that you can tell from the picture but she just kicks and kicks and flails her arms around.
Reese letting me know it's lunch time. Once she puts her hands in her mouth it's time to eat.
So this week Todd discovered she is ten times more wiggly when he plays the guitar. You can't tell from the picture but he played for like an hour and she just kicked and flailed her arms around all while making whimpering noises (she sounded just like a monkey).
This is the sort of reaction you get when she has seen one too many flashes. Hopefully my obsessive need to capture every moment of her life doesn't cause permanent blindness.

Reese's Big Day

So today was Reese's blessing day!!! We started the morning off with a nice warm bath...clean fresh baby... get that dried milk smell off!!
I was unable to find the right kind of slip for her dress so we had to settle with a plain old onesie, however we did get fancy underpants with frills on the bum and her first pair of panty hose...
We are so grateful to those who came up to the blessing despite the awful weather. We woke up this morning to over 6 inches of snow. Most of our family was coming from Utah and Preston and everyone made it with out any accidents - the roads were horrible!!! My mom wouldn't have made it on time if we had the blessing during sacrament meeting... thankfully we were able to put it off until after the meeting so everyone was able to make it. After the blessing we headed down to Downey to have lunch (since our apartment isn't too accommodating to a larger crowd). It continued to snow all day but the roads were at least plowed by this time. We had a grand ole' time eating and watching the super bowl (which thankfully the giants won). When we were trying to take pictures of Reese in her dress she kept sticking out her bottom lip...which is cute...but we would have liked a picture of her smiling...the picture above is the closest we got. She is wearing the same dress I was blessed in so it was kind of special (luckily I was a large child too so the dress fit perfectly). So it was a good day and she was a good baby with all the passing around to the family members she hadn't met before.
